Toyota Supra
Turbo Targa
1989 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa 5-speed, 230,000 miles on shell, and around 31,000 miles on the built 7M-GTE
The Good:
• JawsGear 1 pc. Aluminum Driveshaft.
• The motor was rebuilt by Warrior Engines in PA. The block is bored .020 over with JE pistons and refurbished rods. The head has a 3-angle valve job. ~31,000 miles ago.
• Cometic MLS headgasket and ARP studs installed by JE Import Performance.
• R-154 shifts perfectly, no grinds or anything. Clutch engagement feels great.
• The car has four Nitto NT-450 tires with about 4000 miles on them.
• GReddy Type-S BOV
• K&N Intake
• BIC DDP
• Custom 3 inch exhaust (new gaskets pre and post cat)
• Koni Yellow Dampers
• H&R lowering springs
• Front cross-drilled rotors; front and rear brake pads have lots of life
• 3.0L Turbo Front Badge
• Short shifter or SOGI mod, I'm not sure which
• Polished Compressor Housing on the Ct-26
• Marlin Crawler Shifter Bushings
• HID foglights, aftermarket headlight bulbs (not sure what kind)
• I steam cleaned the carpet, looks really good. Interior is clean with minimal imperfections.
• Kenwood Headunit, Cerwin-vega speakers in doors.
The bad:
• The engine has just started showing small signs of a blown head gasket. It looks to be burning coolant on startup and for a few minutes thereafter, and there are new signs of “milk” under the oil cap. Engine oil still looks normal, no milk. Royal Purple ran by previous owner. I did a NAPA block test on the cooling system, and it passed (no hydrocarbons in coolant so far).
• Headlight motors do not go up, just down.
• ABS system needs a little work. One of the front wheel sensor connectors (in engine bay) is damaged, and that is when I stopped messing with the ABS.
• Targa seals leak.
• Power steering rack leaks a little at the inner tie rods (can include a spare, used rack from the dark blue car if wanted, for a minor, negotiable cost).
This car was bought as a rolling shell, after I crashed my ’89 Turbo hardtop. Over the last few months, I transferred over the drivetrain (minus the diff and half-shafts), front bumper, fenders and hood (due to rust and dents, etc.), headlights, seats, carpet, heater box, dash, console, gas tank, etc. etc. into the targa car to get it back on the road, in good shape. I took my time to make sure it went back together correctly, and I think it has turned out really good.
This car has not been in any accidents, and is in good shape. I need it sold as soon as possible, so the price is $2,100 OR BEST OFFER.
Please e-mail me with any questions, and thanks for looking.
